Amazon Redshift ML is now generally available. With the Cloud Data Warehouse, users can build machine learning models and make predictions from data directly from their Amazon Redshift cluster.

All users have to do is use a simple SQL query to specify what data they want to use to train their model and the output value they want to predict depending on the company.

After the SQL command to build the model is initiated, Redshift ML securely exports the specified data from Amazon Redshift to the S3 bucket and calls Amazon SageMaker Autopilot to prepare the data.

The newly announced GPT-3 features from Microsoft

Microsoft announced that GPT-3, the natural language model developed by OpenAI, will be integrated with Microsoft Power Apps, the company’s low-code app development platform.

With the new AI capabilities, a user creating an e-commerce app can describe a programming goal using conversational language. A precisely matched GPT-3 model then offers the possibility of converting the command into a Microsoft Power Fx formula.

“Using an advanced AI model like this one can help make our low-code tools more accessible to an even larger audience by turning them into what we call no code,” said Charles Lamanna, Corporate Vice President, Microsoft’s low-code application platform.

OpenCilk 1.0 released

OpenCilk is an open source implementation of the Cilk parallelism platform that aims to make parallel programming a simple extension of normal serial programming through a range of tools.

OpenCilk compiles Cilk programs with the Tapir / LLVM compiler based on Clang and LLVM. In addition, the Cilk runtime system implements a work stealing scheduler with which users can efficiently plan the parallel program on the parallel processors available at runtime.

The project is currently in the process of developing many improvements including new language constructs, a new implementation of reducer hyperobjects, various parallel compiler optimizations, and more.

Google Security by Design

Google introduced Security by Design in the Google Play Academy to help developers identify, mitigate, and protect against security threats through a series of courses.

The introduction to app security best practices enables developers to take advantage of additional security features to incorporate into an app.

In the next course, developers will learn how to integrate security into each phase of the development process by applying the Security Development Lifecycle, an industry standard.
