Saint Lucia team wins the 2022 Windward Islands Under 19 Cricket Tournament

Castries, St Lucia: The Windward Islands 2022 Under-19 Cricket Champions, Saint Lucia, returned home from Dominica where they won the WINLOTT INC two-day cricket tournament.

In attendance to meet the champions was a delegation from the Department for Youth Development and Sport, led by Minister Kenson Casimir and Director of Sport Jim Xavier.

The Saint Lucia National Cricket Association, led by President Julian Charles and Treasurer Celestin Laurent were also on hand to welcome the national team to their homeland.

Saint Lucia has welcomed the triumphant return of our Boys in Blue. Carrying the champions’ trophy, the Saint Lucia Under-19 national cricket team took time to pose with Minister for Youth Development and Sport Kenson Casimir and Sporting Director Jim Xavier on their return via the ferry terminal on Thursday 14 July 2022 .

Saint Lucia’s Zaida James narrowly bowled and then went unbeaten for half a century to lead the Windward Islands over the Jamaicans in Monday’s West Indies Women’s Under-19 Tournament in Trinidad and Tobago.

Skipper Tarasque Edward and all the other team members also received recognition from the country and the team’s management has to be commended, as does coach Garey Mathurin and manager Dave Albert.

National male under-19 cricket team named with the majority of players being part of or affiliated with the Northern Cluster Grassroots Cricket Programme.

The Government congratulated the entire National Under 19 Cricket Team and Reserved Players.

The Northern Cluster Grassroots Cricket Program wishes to recognize the proud achievement of grassroots members.

Also, Grenada finished second behind St. Lucia, who won their last game against Dominica.

The Windward Islands U-19 Cricket Tournament was held in Dominica on July 6, 2022, where the matches were played in different stadiums.
