Mohali: Delhi Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday that he would send his Punjab counterpart Charanjit Singh Channi copies of electricity bills with a “zero” amount of one lakh and asked him to add 1,000 such bills to his state demonstrate.

Kejriwal said, speaking at a gathering here, said that in contrast to his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which keeps promises of free electricity, Channi makes “false announcements” every day.

Last year Kejriwal announced a 100 percent subsidy for households in Delhi that use up to 200 units of electricity. Consumers of 201-400 units received around 50 percent subsidy.

The AAP, the largest opposition party in Punjab, has promised up to 300 units of free electricity to every household if it wins the state’s general election in 2022.

At the gathering, Kejriwal presented copies of 1 lakh electricity bills from Delhi consumers, claiming they were “zero bills”.

Seventy to seventy-five percent of the people in Delhi get zero electricity bills and there is still a 24-hour electricity supply, claimed the AAP guide, who is on a visit to poll-driven Punjab.

Kejriwal said he has already announced plans to turn up to 300 units of electricity for free in Punjab when the AAP comes to power next year.

Following the AAP’s announcement, Channi claimed that electricity was being made “for free” in the state, Kejriwal said, asking those in attendance if any of them had not yet received any electricity bills.

“Did he (Channi) lie,” asked the AAP guide. Kejriwal said 50 lakh, 35 lakh electricity users in Delhi had no utility bills last month.

“Today I proved that electricity is free in Delhi. I brought a lakh of such electricity bills with me. Channi Sahab can see them. We will send these bundles of electricity bills to Channi Sahab,” said the Delhi Prime Minister.

“I want to challenge Channi Sahab to come up with 1,000 utility bills in Punjab that have no amount,” he said, adding that if people want “zero bills” they have to make sure the AAP wins in Punjab.

Kejriwal accused Channi of making “false” promises, saying the Punjab Prime Minister had promised five Marla lots for the homeless but had not yet kept.

He said Channi claimed the price of sand had been reduced to 5 rupees per cubic foot, but it was still selling for 35 rupees per cubic foot.

Channi’s government has claimed to legalize the services of 36,000 contracted and outsourced workers in Punjab, but not a single person has been permanently employed, he said.

“Channi makes false announcements every day and not a single announcement has been made,” said Kejriwal.

Kejriwal said earlier that the main ministerial face of the AAP for the upcoming parliamentary elections will be from Punjab amid slogans raised by some party supporters in favor of the party’s head of state unity, Bhagwant Mann.

When Kejriwal was about to begin his speech, an elderly man told him that the AAP ministerial candidate must not be an outsider.

“I promise the CM candidate will be from Punjab,” said Kejriwal. Before the AAP board could say anything more, some party supporters began to raise slogans in favor of Mann. Then Mann stepped in and asked the slogans to listen to Kejriwal.

Kejriwal then told people not to get involved in any of this and asked them if they wanted to get Punjab back on track or make someone a minister or a lawmaker.

Remarkably, Kejriwal had said a few months ago that the face of the AAP Prime Minister was from the Sikh community.

Kejriwal also targeted Channi’s predecessor Amarinder Singh, saying the former Punjab prime minister had also made several promises but also failed to implement them.

“Channi spends a lot of government money on various advertisements and billboards for his fake advertising, but he doesn’t do grassroots work. For this reason, every department today, including unemployed teachers, employees, farmers, traders, doctors, nurses, is sitting on Dharna and protest, “said the AAP leader.

He claimed that all the promises the AAP made to the people of Delhi had been fulfilled. While in Punjab the Congress and the Akalis (Shiromani Akali Dal) promised the people a lot, they did not provide facilities after the government was formed, he claimed.

Kejriwal said, “We have free electricity for the people of Punjab, 24 hour uninterrupted electricity supply, opening 16,000 Mohalla clinics, providing 1,000 rupees a month for women, improving the school system, building good hospitals and the Corruption elimination guaranteed. ”

“With the formation of the AAP government in Punjab, all guarantees will be met at all costs,” he said.

He appealed to the people of Punjab to give his party a chance, saying they had already given Congress and the Akalis a chance.
