HEALTH MANAGER AND TEAM LEADER (local position) – Cameroon


The International Medical Corps proposes to support the Ministry of Health (MoH) in providing integrated health services (including mental health, reproductive health), nutrition and food security services to internally displaced persons and conflict-affected host communities in Mbengwi, Njikwa, Fundong, Ako and Ako Health Districts ndop. Targeted beneficiaries receive free primary health care, including mental and reproductive health care, nutritional and food safety services, through health facilities identified as in need according to the needs assessment report.


  • Coordinate delivery of health activities/projects at all locations in the Northwest region supported by IMC.
  • Oversee the efficient use of drugs procured from project funds and provide technical guidance and coordination for the procurement, storage, and use of drugs and medical supplies.
  • Ensure collaboration and coordination between IMC activities and the MOH to ensure a parallel system is not created.
  • Follow up and ensure that health activities are carried out according to Cameroon’s MOH protocols.
  • Working with the access officer, oversee the overall security and access environment for the smooth running of program activities.
  • Represent IMC at all meetings, including regional coordination meetings, cluster meetings and multi-stakeholder meetings.
  • Monitor employee performance and progress on IMCs’ mentoring and training processes.
  • Identify and resolve any issues that could adversely affect the project and report them to the field coordinator, program coordinator, or medical director.
  • Create and maintain good contacts and networks with different stakeholders inside and outside the project to ensure all activities run smoothly.
  • Contribute to writing project proposals as well as drafting concept notes for funders
  • Propose other areas of potential funding opportunities and prepare and submit reports on them.
  • Track the effective presence of staff in healthcare facilities and monitor all clinical activities for compliance with ethics and IMC standards.
  • Ensure smooth progress of programme/project indicators and make necessary changes to redirect indicator achievement.
  • Ensure sufficient and timely availability of medicines and consumables in sufficient quantity and good quality.
  • Complete any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

labor relations

  • Maintain regular communication with field coordinator to ensure health program activities and goals are communicated;
  • Working with the Finance Manager and Logistics Officer to ensure coordination of IMC field programs is implemented smoothly;
  • Representing the IMC at Health and Nutrition Working Group meetings, donor visits and regional level assessment missions;
  • Interface with Department of Health counterparts, Regional Public Health Program Delegate to ensure mutual understanding of programs;


  • Work with key donor staff to create and maintain an optimal programmatic relationship
  • Ensure maximum agency visibility in the NGO community;
  • Facilitating the preparation of technical reports and ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of the information provided, as well as ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive information;
  • Contributing to the creation of a positive image and the overall credibility of the organization, in particular through the application of the mandate, ethics, values ​​and point of view of IMC in relation to other stakeholders

Skills and Experience:

  • At least 5 years management experience in humanitarian or development settings with at least 5 years INGO program management experience in the same or a similar position
  • Experience in emergency medical care
  • Experience managing health and nutrition programs and working with the Department of Public Health is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft consistent proposals and write informed reports;
  • Previous experience managing programs funded by US government agencies, ECHO, UN foundations and private donors is a must, with prior experience in competitive environments an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects on time, within budget and with expected results. (minimum 2 years experience)


  • Education: Doctor/Masters in Public Health or equivalent in a related health field
  • Language: Excellent knowledge of English/Pidgin (fluent in spoken and written English)
  • Skills: Basic computer skills (Word, Excel and Internet)
