Data sharing and universal health standards are key to building regional resilience to the threat of yet another pandemic, ASEAN health ministers said, amid fears of a third wave of COVID-19 infections looming in the region.

Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said ASEAN should implement standardized health and travel protocols across the region to ensure consistency in quarantine protocols as well as vaccine and testing requirements.

“We need to copy the innovation of immigration passports” [and use it for] Health Passports, ”he said on Wednesday at a public forum organized by the EVYD Knowledge Hub, the Government of Brunei and the Temasek Foundation.
