ASE unveils plans for world’s first 5G mmWave NR-DC SA Smart Factory

Taipei, Taiwan–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, Inc (ASE, a member of ASE Technology Holding Co., Ltd. TAIEX: 3711, NYSE: ASX) attended a project launch event on August 23approx To unveil plans for a 5G mmWave NR-DC SA (New Radio-Dual Connectivity Standalone) intelligent smart factory, backed by the Industrial Development Bureau and Qualcomm Technologies Inc., developed through a strategic collaboration between multiple organizations, the Institute for Information Technology includes, Asia Pacific Telecom, DEVCORE Security Consulting and the Intelligent Manufacturing Research Center of National Cheng Kung University.

With the increasing complexity of global competition, characterized by rapid shifts in market supply and demand and workforce shortages, companies continue to face unprecedented challenges in modernizing and transforming their business operations. To address skill shortages and adapt to diverse customer needs, ASE is accelerating the adoption of intelligent manufacturing technologies, including automation, and the integration of OT (Operational Technology) security to increase the efficiency of its equipment and productivity. Overview of the 5G cooperation

The collaboration will focus on enabling the digital transformation of factory processes that are highly secure and highly reliable by facilitating 5G wireless infrastructure integration, intelligent heterogeneous device integration and OT security system integration. Areas covered include developments in:

  • AI-assisted detection of anomalies from the SOP (standard operating process), improving the ability of operators and maintenance personnel to ensure consistent yield quality and a safe operating environment

  • Increasing productivity and yield improvement through data analysis of both current and newly acquired equipment in operation and optimization of model parameters

  • Intelligent material handling solutions that enable real-time inventory forecasting through to delivery, resulting in an overall reduction in production cycle time

  • Generate high-resolution, real-time AOI images using high-bandwidth mobile streaming to improve quality inspection accuracy and efficiency

  • the use of 5G mmWave NR-DC-SA technology that provides network stability and speed to improve connectivity, and in the case of a machine relayout, the reduction in setup time will also improve overall equipment efficiency (OEE).

Snapdragon® X65 5G modem RF system and new radio dual connectivity for standalone 5G

The smart factory will use Snapdragon X65 5G modem RF system and 5G NR-DC software with uplink four-component carrier aggregation (UL 4CC CA), combining four contiguous carriers of 100MHz with 2.6GHz ( middle band) can be combined. and 28 GHz (high band) to achieve an uplink speed of 600 Mbit/s. The low latency and higher data speeds are critical for semiconductor manufacturing environments for advanced processes and, in turn, will accelerate the adoption and evolution of smart manufacturing.
